Prime Rib Roast

Directions

  1. Bring your Prime Rib Roast to room temperature - this allows for even cooking.
  2. Pat the roast dry and season your roast with your preferred seasonings - we recommend seasoning with salt, cracked pepper, rosemary, thyme, and garlic, then rub butter or olive oil over the roast. This ensures a nice crust when finished.
  3. Preheat your oven to 500 degrees F.
  4. Place your roast bone-side down in a roasting pan or cast iron skillet. Cook for 5 minutes per pound (i.e. a 6 pound roast will cook at 500 degrees for 30 minutes).
  5. After this time, shut the oven off and leave the roast in for 2 hours. Do not open the oven door - this will allow the heat to escape. 
  6. For a medium rare cook in the center, pull out after 2 hours. For a rare cook in the center, pull out after 1 hour and 45 minutes. 
  7. Serve immediately after pulling out from the oven and enjoy.
